History[]
Background[]
Ditzy Doo is a pegasus mare who was alive during the time of the Great War. Before the megaspell hit Cloudsdale, Ditzy Doo owned and operated her own delivery service called "Ditzy Doo Deliveries." Miraculously, she managed to survive the detonation of a zebra balefire megaspell in Cloudsdale, but the extreme levels of radiation caused her to to mutate into a ghoul. In the 200 years or so after the Great War, Ditzy has experienced her own hardships and managed to make quite a name for herself. Ditzy Doo runs Absolutely Everything, the general store in the town of New Appleloosa. A few decades before the opening of Stable 2, Ditzy's tongue was cut out by Slavers. Since then, she has adapted to using a crude form of conversation which utilizes small chalkboards and written messages. A true testament to her knowledge of the Equestrian Wasteland, Ditzy has written an extremely popular book entitled "The Wasteland Survival Guide", which she distributes to families in need at no cost.
Present Day[]
Littlepip first meets Ditzy Doo in the Ponyville Library while searching for a copy of the mare's guide. When Littlepip encounters her, she is initially mortified by her grotesque appearance and actually mistakes her for dead, only unlocking her cage to free another pony who is trapped inside. Ditzy then puts her own life on the line to try and save a filly who the raiders have been raping and torturing. Although she is caught and almost killed, her actions distract the raiders, allowing Littlepip to quickly dispatch them. She and Littlepip go on to become very good friends.
Ditzy Doo has helped Littlepip and the gang on multiple occasions since then. She takes in an emotionally scarred Silver Bell and provides care and a loving home for the filly, who has since blossomed into an aspiring artist. She also manages to aid the zebras of Glyphmark by trading with them, which has helped to stimulate the town's economy. Following Littlepip's detonation of a Balefire Bomb beneath the Maripony facility, Ditzy pulls her from the rubble and delivers her back to the rest of the team (along with a few crates of RadAway). Heavily irradiated, the now toxic Ditzy Doo travels with them to Friendship City where she learns how to release her radiation in quick bursts. She then returns to New Appleloosa following the beginning of Operation Cauterize.
In a spectacular display of radioactive flight, Ditzy Doo manages to expel all of her pent-up radiation in the form of a "Sonic Rad-Boom" over New Appleloosa. The resulting explosion destroys multiple Enclave Raptors and kills a few of the invading pegasi. A physically drained Ditzy Doo was then saved by Calamity and moved to Absolutely Everything to recover. She made a full recovery and is hailed as the guest of honor at a party thrown for her by Silver Bell. Ditzy and Silver Bell were moved to Spike's cave, to protect them from the Enclave. They have been staying in Spike's cave along with Littlepip's other allies. She performs a Sonic Radboom over Fillydelphia as part of Littlepip's plan, during the Day of Sunshine and Rainbows. Ditzy's Sonic Radboom cleared the clouds over Fillydelpia so the Celestia One megaspell could activate. As before, the effort rendered her unconscious but it was Lionheart who saved her this time. The two ghouls eventually fell in love and ended up together.
Ditzy Doo Chronicles[]
Ditzy Doo is the titular protagonist of The Ditzy Doo Chronicles. The story takes place after the last day and the aftermath of the fallout, covering Ditzy Doo's two hundred year backstory.
Ditzy Doo in The Ditzy Doo Chronicles |
---|
The Last DayDitzy Doo arrived in Cloudsdayle to pick up a shipment of medical supplies, designated for Canterlot. Ditzy headed for Hope first as she had another delivery to make there first. As Ditzy Doo flew, she was just in the safe zone at the edge of the first megaspell that vaporized Cloudsdayle. Ditzy was forced to make a crash landing, injuring both of her forelegs. She awoke soon after her crash landing, the revelation of the apocalypse and seeing her first dead pony, causing Ditzy to pass out. She awoke again a few hours later and managed to pack some medical supplies and look for survivors. She stumbles across the Pie family's rock farm, where she recieves proper medical treatment. First Nine DaysDitzy Doo awoke after arriving on the farm and meets several survivors, including Blinkie, Raider/Stronghoof, Gizmo and May. Ditzy and several survivors journey to Ponyville, Blinkie opting to stay on the farm. The journey claims the life of one survivor suffering from severe burns. The rest of the journey is uneventful. Upon arriving in Ponyville, Ditzy and the survivors begin inspecting the town for supplies. They discover the town has plenty of medicine and food for their needs, but also that the capital of Canterlot has fallen due to the Pink Cloud megaspell, that was deployed there. Ditzy and May are also suffering the first stages of ghoulfification, losing patches of their fur, despite their best efforts to resist. Ditzy and May decide to make the journey to Manehatten where Turntable and several survivors are living in the Ministry of Arcane Sciences (MAS), broadcasting news and music, whilst also looking for any helpful information they can share with Equestria at large. Upon arriving at the Ministry Hub, Ditzy is shot by a powerful rifle, which May manages to treat with ease. The guards initially mistaking them for zombie ponies, deny the two access to the tower, unless they can bring some food and medicine. Ditzy and May travel to the Ministry of Peace hub, encountering their first Balefire Phoenix on the way. The phoenix enlarged by massive amounts of radiation, attacks the two ghouls. Ditzy Doo manages to trick the Phoenix into collapsing a building, which topples over on top of the phoenix and the two ghouls. Fortunately, May is able to protect them both from the collapsing building. They reach the Ministry Hub where they encounter a partially frozen, feral ghoul. The feral ghoul lunges at them both, managing to pin down May before she can reload her pistol. Ditzy who gets knocked back trying to pull off the feral, finds a knife which she uses to kill the feral zombie ghoul. Ditzy and May now with supplies of food and medicine which they purify via a one-use talisman, deliver the goods to the MAS hub, where they discover that the supplies whilst not in desperate need, are nonetheless appreciated. Ditzy and May deliver news of Canterlot and Ponyville's status as a safe place, before returning to Ponyville themselves. InterludeIn the interlude, it is revealed that Blinkie has passed away due to old age, Raider set up a family with a mare named Honeydew in Ponyville. Gizmo arrived in Fillydelphia where he relayed the news that 96 out of 101 stables were confirmed to have closed successfully, saving roughly 85,000 lives. Ditzy and May spend the next forty years exploring the wasteland, seeking out other pockets of civilization and offering help and aid where they could. Though some settlements shot at them on sight, preventing them from providing aid. They also explored irradiated locations and facilities, that were too deadly for regular ponies to enter. Forty Years LaterForty years since the balefire apocalypse, Ditzy Doo and May encounter a herd of mutated cattle, now Brahmin. One of the Brahmin they speak with is Mooriel who explains that the local Radhog's have become violent recently. They source of their aggression is revealed to be ponies hunting the radhogs for their meat. Ditzy and May enter Ponyville where two guards, Skeeter & Booster attack them. They manage to convince the guards to let them see Raider who is revealed to be the son of the original Raider a.k.a Stronghoof. The young Raider escorts the two ghoul mares out of Ponyville, letting them live as he wouldn't be alive if they hadn't helped establish Ponyville. Ditzy notes the gruesome cutie marks that the new generation of Ponyville ponies have, signs of the first generation of Raiders. Ditzy and may soon find Stronghoof at the Macintosh War memorial, where he explains what happened to Ponyville. News that certain Stables are beginning to open, prompts Ditzy and May to seek out information at a Stable-Tec facility in Fillydelphia on which Stables are opening so they can offer aid to the ponies entering the wasteland. They pass through Appleloosa, which has become a ghost town, Ditzy and May move on and after several days of travel, which involved passing through a vicious sandstorm, they emerge on the other side of the desert. The two follow pre-war roads to Fillydelphia, when they recieve an emergency broadcast, asking for assistance from Stable 67. DItzy and May arrive and find a Steel Ranger buried under rubble from a rock slide. They pull him out and discover he is in fact, their old friend Gizmo. Gizmo, Ditzy and May enter Stable 67 to rescue the ponies inside from attacking bandits. The trio are succesful, though Gizmo's Owl-bot, Gearwing is damaged. Of the 800 inhabitants, nearly 200 have been killed by the bandits. Gizmo, Ditzy and May escort the survivors to the Fillydelphia, Steel Ranger compound. The Stable Dwellers are looked after by the Steel Rangers, but won't tolerate Ditzy and May's presence. Gizmo advices them to check out Stable 12, which is located in Trottingham. In Trottingham, Ditzy and May find a community of ghouls, survivors of Stable 12 and other wasteland ghouls who have banded together and founded the settlement of Necropolis. Ditzy and May meet some of the local ghouls, including the local sheriff and town leader, Rotting Tail. Ditzy, May and Rotting Tail enter Stable 12 to locate important ghoul research done by Stable 12's doctor, Fixit and to kill the feral ghouls populating the Stable. Ditzy and her companions discover that Stable 12 was made faulty deliberately, to study the effects of long-term exposure to balefire radiation. The Stable engineers failed to take into account, the levels of radiation that Trottingham might be subjected to, meaning that even though the radiation leak was small, it was far more potent than the stable was built to deal with. The three ghouls kill the feral ghouls inside the stable, collect Fixit's research and destroy any recordings of what actually happened in Stable 12 to spare the ghoul ponies in Necroplois from further grief. A funeral service is held for the feral stable ponies that ends with cremating all the bodies. The next day Ditzy, May, Rotting Tail and his nephew Crumble, decide to venture above the clouds, close to a mountain range near the vaproized Cloudsdayle. A local griffin ghoul mocks Ditzy's plan and warns her about the isolationist pegasus ponies and how they might attack her on sight. The journey to the mountain sees Ditzy passing through a violent rainstorm, forcing her above the cloud cover. The four ghouls reach the mountain and park on a ledge to observe the sky. They witness the moon sharing the sky with the sun, leaving them unsure of what they are seeing. Two armoured Enclave pegasi arrive and at first attack Ditzy, but stop and instead question her. They prepare to escort Ditzy and her companions back below the clouds, when a solar eclipse occurs, terrifying all the ponies present. The Enclave pegasi fly off, and Ditzy and her friends return to Trottingham after the moon passes by the sun, seven minutes later. When they arrive in Trottingham, Ditzy is met by the griffin ghoul from earlier, who asks about what happened and if the pegasi mentioned Rainbow Dash. The griffon talon takes comfort in knowing the Enclave never killed Rainbow, since she never managed it either. Interlude 2Another 40 years pass, the population in the wasteland swells from more stable ponies joining the Equestrian wasteland and the population centers swelling by breeding and starting families. The increasing number of ponies as well as a steady rise in griffin talons, sees trade beginning to flow. Pre-war bits were more useful as components than actual currency, hence the shift to a bottlecap based currency. Ditzy stays in Necropolis for the next forty years, running a trade caravan and picking up new skills, particularly in tailoring and bartering. Eighty Years LaterDitzy Doo whilst returning to Trottingham with her trade caravan, stumble across two ponies being attacked by raiders. Ditzy and another ghoul rush to aid the ponies being attacked and kill all three of the attacking raiders. Ditzy and her companion greet the one surviving pony who turns out to be a ghoul like them. He reveals himself to be Flam, whom Ditzy remembers from before the war, during the Super Cider Squeezy 6000 incident. Ditzy chats with Flam on the way back to Trottingham where Flam introduces himself and sells some of his wares to the resident ghouls. Ditzy notices May buying Dash from Flam, but says nothing at the time, having been away for two weeks and wanting to catch up with Rotting Tail. After having sex with Rotting Tail, Ditzy shares her concerns about May, Rotting Tail encouraging her to speak to May by telling her s story of a similar situation between Braebrun and Applejack, which he had to sort out by showing Braeburn how he was hurting others around him with his drinking. Ditzy leaves to confront May, but finds her under the effects of Dash, only the symptoms are much more obvious. Ditzy realises that the Dash that May has used is unusually coloured. She brings the Dash inhaler to Flam inside Necropolis's local bar, The Watering Hole, where he explains that he gave her Ultra-Dash, which enhances the effects of Dash, specifically for ghoul addicts. Ditzy and Rotting Tail head to Trottingham's Ministry of Peace hub, searching for a Dash-Purger or at the very least, a recipe. Inside they encounter several active Sprite-Bots that allow them passage further into the building, due to a code phrase Ditzy learned from May. The first Sprite-Bot Ditzy encounters is less than helpful, but a new voice takes over the robot and informs her to look on floor five, inside a safe. Ditzy and Rotting Tail find a Dash Purger and the recipe on the fifth floor, hidden behind a picture of Pinkie Pie. Ditzy flies them both back to Necropolis, where she gives May the Purger. May's body reacts instantly and forces her to puke for awhile, before she goes comatose for two days. Ditzy watches over May and finally confronts May about her addiction. After May makes a full recovery, Necropolis is attacked by a group of Steel Rangers. The Rangers were unwilling to negotiate a peaceful solution and indiscriminantly slaughtered the ghouls living here. During the battle, Crumble is killed by a missile which also collapsed a building on top of his lower half. Rotting Tail injects himself with several combat drugs and rushes off into battle, Ditzy then witnesses the unnamed Griffin talon return, slaughtering four Steel Rangers in the process. The griffin reveals herself to be Gilda, before she is challenged to a duel by the leader of the Steel Rangers, Emerald. Gilda fights valiantly, but is finally bested and beheaded by Emerald who beheads her after she revived a second time. Ditzy confronts Emerald about what she's done and insists Gizmo would be disgusted with her. Emerald uses her magic to share her memories with Ditzy, revealing how Gizmo and ponies she knew and cared about were cruelly killed in the wasteland. Ditzy's spirit is unbroken, telling Emerald she is wrong and that Equestria will be reborn one day, so long as good ponies like Ditzy, still have hope. Emerald lets Ditzy flee, telling her to remember her words when Ditzy's hope finally breaks. Ditzy flees into the sewers where she meets up with some survivors, including May and Rotting Tail. The survivors flee through the sewers, eventually exiting a few miles outside Trottingham. There they are greeted by a glowing ghoul named Bright Light. Bright Light supercharges herself with radiation and transports all 37 surviving ghouls to a location near Stalliongrad. Bright explains she and a large number of ghouls, are working to repair a Raptor Class Cloudship and make an exodus to set up a home that will be a safe haven for ghouls, outside of Equestria. Derpy is able to access a cloud terminal that Bright and her followers were unable to access, giving them access to the command deck. Three enclave officers are inside the command deck, having become feral ghouls, whom Ditzy is forced to fight off. Ditzy and the Trottingham survivors, along with other ghouls that Bright brings to the Raptor, help repair the warship. The day before the journey is to begin, Bright names the ship Renewal and makes a speech about remembering friends, family and ghouls unfortunate enough to become feral. Ditzy is jolted awake as Rotting Tail hijacks the Cloudship, intending to use it to avenge the deaths of Trottingham's ghouls. Ditzy Doo manages to talk him out of this and turns the ship back over to Bright's control. Bright punishes Rotting Tail by now allowing him to join in their journey, Ditzy and May leave with him, unwilling to leave him behind. |

New Pegas[]
Although not appearing in the story in person, Ditzy Doo is something of a pre-war celebrity in the Moohave. The Derpy & Dinky Casino in Slimm doubles as a museum to her accomplishments, and she is believed to be one of the founders of the Pony Express. Uptown Eclair, the builder and owner of the Casino Royale, was enraptured by the sight of her at a Grand Galloping Gala and invited her as a VIP for the Royale's grand opening, hoping to woo her with his wealth and status (as well as corrective eye treatment with advanced Auto-Docs). She is notably more known under her alternate moniker, Derpy Hooves.

Trivia[]
- Although Ditzy Doo is a canon character in the My Little Pony universe, Kkat has developed her character in such a way that most canonical developments will not affect her. Her voice and speech patterns are moot as she has no tongue. Whether or not she has a daughter wouldn't matter as she would be dead long before the opening of Stable 2. Even her occupation, if not delivery/mail/retail, could have been something she learned in the past 200 years.
- As a running gag carried over from the Brony fandom, Ditzy Doo seems to have a soft spot for muffins (which is strange considering she has no tongue or functioning digestive system).
- Ditzy's nickname, "Derpy Hooves," is another product of the fandom and comes from the fact that the pegasus is almost always seen with a silly, cockeyed expression on her face. The ponies of New Appleloosa sometimes refer to Ditzy with that nickname as well.
- Ditzy Doo's character in Fallout: Equestria is somewhat similar to Moira Brown, a small town shopkeeper and author of her own Survival Guide in Fallout 3. Although Moira is not a ghoul, she can become one through an optional sidequest.
