Changelings are a minor race in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. They are four-legged, pony-like, insectoid creatures with the natural ability to shapeshift. Changelings do not make an appearance in Fallout: Equestria. They do, however, appear in several sidestories and in official My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic media.
Overview
Physiology
Changelings feed on the positive emotion love, it is unknown if they can survive on Love alone or if they have to eat regular food as well. Changelings have insectoid bodies with carapace like skin and blue insectoid eyes. A horn much like a unicorns adorns a changeling's head and a pair fangs jut out of their mouths. Their backs have insectoid wings and their legs have small holes in them.
Culture
Changeling culture seems to revolve around harvesting love by impersonating ponies and feeding off the love of their loved ones.
Abilities
Changelings have their own brand of magic. They can transform into almost any pony, copying their appearance and voice perfectly. They are also capable of flight and have been shown performing Kamikaze-like headlong dives into the ground and getting up again unharmed. They can also create green cocoons which they can store living beings inside, like ponies and use green slime to bind hostages legs. Their magical aura is green.
Depiction in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and Comics
Changelings were first seen in the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic’s Season 2’s finale, ‘’A Canterlot Wedding’’, parts I and II. The Queen of the Changelings, Queen Chrysalis, had infiltrated Canterlot prior to Shining Armour’s wedding with Princess Cadence, posing as his fiancée and trapping the real Cadence beneath Canterlot, in its long forgotten dungeons. Taking the real Princess Cadence’s place, Queen Chrysalis fed off of Shining Armour’s love for Cadence, growing stronger and stronger – even to the point of being capable of facing and defeating Princess Celestia in single combat.
During the wedding, when Chrysalis’ true form is revealed, Shining Armour, enthralled by Queen Chrysalis’ magic, is powerless as Chrysalis’ Changeling swarm breaks through his magical bubble shield over Canterlot and begins to terrorize the city. Only until Twilight Sparkle releases the real Cadence from her prison is she, and her friends able to finally defeat Queen Chrysalis. Cadence manages to free Shining Armour, and the two overcome Queen Chrysalis, expelling her and her swarm from Canterlot to the furthest reaches of western Equestria.
It is revealed, in the IDW comics, that Chrysalis and her swarm survived their banishment, and launched another attack to take Equestria. Their attack on Ponyville was repulsed by the soon-to-be Ministry mares. Queen Chrysalis takes the Cutiemark Crusaders hostage, and they are pursued by the Mane Six to a Queen Chrysalis’ base, a castle she commandeered while rebuilding her strength following her defeat in Canterlot.
During the confrontation, Queen Chrysalis attempts to drain Twilight Sparkle and her friends of their love in order to coerce her into becoming her student. After a prolonged battle, Queen Chrysalis and her the remnants of her Changeling swarm, her horn broken and her wings damaged, are finally defeated for a second time, and are all imprisoned by Pinkie Pie inside their castle.
In Fallout: Equestria
Changelings did not appear in Fallout: Equestria, and thus it is difficult to say what became of them after Queen Chrysalis’ defeat(s). However, they appear in several ‘’Fallout: Equestria’’ sidestories.

Fallout: Equestria - Rising Dawn'Pure' ChangelingsOverview‘Pure’ Changelings, a name derived from reader speculation, is a name given to the seemingly unmutated or uncorrupted Changelings that are seen in the story. HistoryDuring the war It is unknown to what extent the Changeling Kingdom under Queen Chrysalis’ dynasty participated in the Great War – or if they even participated at all. After the War Changelings seemingly disappeared from the face of Equestria following the balefire holocaust that consumed the world at the close of the Great War. Most ponies in the Northern Wasteland, or even the Equestrian Wasteland, for that matter, even know what a Changeling is, after two hundred years of historical neglect. However, Changelings, or at least one Changeling, have so far revealed her or himself in Poneva City. After Red Dawn and his party leave the devastated the Orphanage hideout in the Inner City, they walk in upon a Changeling that was seemingly in the middle of investigating the place – or even stalking them. They chase the Changeling, who is posing as a unicorn, only to be misdirected by the Changeling’s unicorn magic. They watch as she transmogrifies into a Pegasus Pony and flies away, fleeing from the scene. TraitsBiology From what has been seen thus far in ‘’Rising Dawn’’, Changelings have not changed much since their last appearance in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Changelings vary in physical appearance, based on their genders. However, both males and females have their characteristic, elongated canines and dragonfly-like wings. They have glowing eyes with hues that often match the palette of their manes or crests, from blue, to teal, to green, and more. While not sexually dimorphic, males typically do not have manes, and instead sport colored, webbed crests, or chitin spikes that stretch from their heads to base of their necks, or down their spines to their tails. Their tails, which are colorful webbed limbs, are often the same colors as the webs on their crests. Females typically have manes of solid colors – similar to ponies – which are often accompanied by the same spikes or webbed crests that males sport. Many females lack spikes or crests, and simply sport manes and webbed tails that are the same color as the latter. Culture Not much is known about Changeling culture as they have not been seen in number since the end of the Great War, but it can only be assumed that they have retained much of their original culture from before the war. Abilities Changelings are innately capable of almost perfectly transmogrifying themselves into other shapes and forms. They are also excellent fliers, capable of matching pegasi or bat ponies in speed, agility, and endurance. Changelings are also magically-gifted by nature. As such, all Changelings are capable of basic Unicorn Magic, such as levitation. Other, stronger Changelings are capable of far greater feats of magical prowess, such as Queen Chrysalis, who has demonstrated abilities on par with Alicorns. Notable Changelings
'Corrupted’ ChangelingsOverview and Speculation‘Corrupted Changelings’, a name spawned from reader speculation, is a name given to Changelings who exhibit signs of dark magic corruption. They are depicted with glowing green scleras with undulating streams of violet dark magic exuding from their eyes. In other artwork where they can be seen without helmets, they are depicted the same as the above, but with green, glowing scleras and red irises – a sign of dark magic corruption. They have yet to physically appear in ‘’Rising Dawn’’, but are portrayed in the story’s cover art. The author, who is also the artist of the story’s cover art, has made alternate versions of the cover, depicting a ‘normal’, or ‘pure’ Changeling, with glowing, teal eyes – minus the dark magic and red irises.
